Indigenous Peer Support and Relations Advocate

Christine (Ikwe/She/Her) is an Ojibwe-Pottawatomi-Odawa from G’chi’mnissing (Beausoleil First Nation), in Georgian Bay, Ontario. She has previously worked in Human Resources and as an Executive Assistant at the Ministry of Attorney General Office in the Indigenous Justice Division. She empowers Indigenous community members through culturally-relevant support and advocacy. The services she provides through the Centre for Wise Practices for First Nations, Inuit and Métis (FNIM) patients and their families include; peer support, referrals to Indigenous community partners, facilitation of holistic support including ceremonial/spiritual services with an Elder, collaborative care with community Elders, support care plans and culturally-safe, and timely, access to Indigenous healing medicines for FNIM individuals and their families.
