COPING Well (Chronic Pain Education for Indigenous Wellness) is a quality improvement project co-led by the Centre for Wise Practices in Indigenous Health at Women’s College Hospital, the Health Council from Grand Council Treaty 3, Anishinaabe Nation in Treaty #3 and the Transitional Pain Services at Toronto General Hospital‘s Department of Anesthesia and Pain Management and is funded by Health Canada’s Substance Use and Addiction Program. This initiative takes a strength-based approach that emphasizes community-based wellness strategies and identifies barriers for First Nations patients seeking pain care. This initiative will provide foundational educational resources for healthcare providers and First Nations community members living with chronic pain.
