Neurologist and Environmental Justice Lead

Suvendrini Lena is a settler of mixed Tamil/Singhalese descent. She is a Staff Neurologist at the Centre for Headache at WCH and an Assistant Professor of Neurology and Psychiatry at the University of Toronto. She holds an MPH in Environmental Health from the Mailman School of Public Health at Columbia University. Suvendrini works for Mercury Justice in collaboration with Asubpeeschoseewagong First Nation (also known as Grassy Narrows First Nation) and scientists at University of Quebec in Montreal (UQAM). In this Indigenous led partnership, her role is to document the neurological effects of mercury exposure and environmental degradation and to participate in knowledge translation and advocacy. Suvendrini Lena is also a playwright and a teacher in the Medicine and Humanities program at the University of Toronto.
