Telena (she/her) is of mixed ancestry; her mother is Canadian settler (Western European) and her father is Zuni Pueblo and Nuevo Mexicano Hispano. She completed her Bachelor of Health Administration through Athabasca University and has a clinical background which includes an 18-year nursing career, specializing in palliative care. She left nursing to pursue systems transformation and health equity initiatives, with a passion for bridging knowledge and practice gaps in program and policy development. Her role at the Centre includes day to day operations, management and leading projects that develop culturally safe health promotion initiatives. She is also a Certified Nutritionist and Plant Medicine healer.
